Beginner's Guide to a With Website Design Business

By Jacob Karpen

Designing websites is one of the most eclectic methods of making money. How to make money designing websites has no simple answer, because it has many answers. No one answer is better than the other, necessarily, as it's up to the designer themselves. The only key thing that all designers need before they can make any money is knowing how to do it.

One method for making money is to work for a design company. Some companies specialize in designing websites and hire various web designers for that purpose. A lot of these companies will have a posting for "web masters" somewhere.

You could be employed by a company that has contracts to design websites for other companies. The work is more stable, as you're designing other websites, not just one. And the work comes from contracts you aren't responsible for.

If you don't want to work for someone, you could work for yourself. All you have to do is make a name for yourself. Putting your name out there via website, business cards, logo, etc. Will help attract more customers/contracts.

Speaking of logos, they can make a huge difference, and require a very small amount of space on a website. Maybe the logo or motto or what have you is put on the corner of every website, or maybe it's just something you put on the main page so people can see. By having some sort of tie to you in the form of a logo of some kind, every time you get a customer, your name reaches more people, meaning more popularity in the end.

If your name is out there and people can find you, it'll be easier to get contracts. The more contracts you have, of course, the more money you'll make. Overall, the best way to get contracts is to have satisfied customers, so it's a meticulous route to take.

An easy method for making money is to use a lot of advertising. It may not be as appealing to the general internet user, but it pays. This will require speaking to companies that want advertisements directly and finding out how much they'll pay for a space on the web. This is likely to be the easiest route, albeit the most boring.

Alternatively, you could design a website that sells either your product or the product or someone else. It's the most complicated because you become more than just a designer, but also an entrepreneur. If you sell for someone else, then you can charge a commission, all, once again, based on popularity.

There's so many ways on how to make money designing websites, and each has it's own set of pros and cons. Some are better because they're more interesting, while others are better because their easy. If you're good enough, though, it won't matter what route to take. By the end of the day, it's money in the bank from simply sitting around watching the progress. - 32521
